Health care
I have spent the majority of my career working as a health center physician and chief physician in primary healthcare in Helsinki. Through my work, I have gained a deep understanding of what works and what does not in outpatient care.
I want to see a strong and well-functioning primary healthcare system where preventive measures for mental health, substance abuse, and social exclusion play a central role.
To create smoother and more efficient healthcare services, digital tools need to be further developed, and generative artificial intelligence should be utilized as a valuable support in primary healthcare. This can help reduce the workload and free up time and resources to improve the quality of patient care.
Education
Helsinki should strive to be the most family-friendly city in the world. This means ensuring a seamless everyday life for families with children, supported by a well-connected network of high-quality daycare centers and schools.
Excellence and ambition in early childhood education and schooling are essential to safeguarding our democratic society, prosperity, and future success. A safe and inspiring learning environment is only possible when children, students, and staff in education and childcare feel supported and empowered.
Every child and young person should have equal opportunities to succeed in school, regardless of their background. Achieving this requires skilled professionals, more trusted adults in schools, and proactive measures to foster inclusion, equality, and effective prevention of bullying, social exclusion, and segregation.
Environment
As a city council member from 2021 to 2025, I have closely followed Helsinki’s environmental efforts. We have set ambitious climate goals, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030 and carbon negativity from 2040 onwards.
Now that emissions from heating have significantly decreased, we must shift our focus to transportation. We need to create better incentives for sustainable modes of travel.
Helsinki has a unique opportunity to lead the way through innovative decisions in energy, transportation, procurement, land use, and waste management. Environmental considerations must be given focus in every decision and procurement process.
